Demand Surges For Giants Spring Training Tickets
SCOTTSDALE, Arizona (KCBS) - The crack of the bat will soon be heard in Scottsdale, Arizona Monday, and more San Francisco Giants fans than ever planned to be on hand to hear it. The World Series champions begin spring training, with pitchers and catchers reporting for their first day on Monday.
KCBS' Chris Filippi Reports:
Excitement over the team's title run translated into a big increase in demand for spring training tickets. This would be the first time since 1955 that the Giants would gather in Arizona as defending champions.
"We're way ahead of where we've been in previous years and you know, should we continue to have good weather down in Scottsdale we expect to have probably the largest spring training, attendance-wise, ever," enthused Giants vice president of communications, Staci Slaughter.
According to Slaughter, most of the weekend games in February and March were already sold out, as were spring training tours.
"Overall it's been just an amazing experience," she said. "And the fans are really responding."
The Bay Area's other professional baseball team is also headed for Arizona. Spring training for the Oakland A's begins Tuesday in Phoenix.
