Danville Man Arrested For Sharing Child Porn Online
DANVILLE (CBS SF) -- A Danville man has been arrested and charged for allegedly sharing child pornography online.
George Robert Lee III, 44, was arrested in Danville on Tuesday on suspicion of possession of child pornography following a joint law enforcement investigation that began in early November, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.
With assistance from the San Jose Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, investigators from the district attorney's office and several area police agencies executed a search warrant on Tuesday at a home in the 500 block of Saint George Road in Danville.
At the home, they recovered evidence that led to Lee's arrest. He was taken to county jail in Martinez and was later released on $40,000 bail, according to the district attorney's office.
Prosecutors on Wednesday charged Lee with one count of felony possession of child pornography.
He is set to appear in court on the charge sometime early next year and faces a maximum penalty of three years in prison if convicted, according to the district attorney's office.
In a statement regarding Lee's arrest, District Attorney Mark Peterson emphasized his office's commitment to "aggressively prosecute anyone involved in the exploitation of child sexual abuse victims."
