Danville Burglary Suspect Arrested After Spotted By Resident
DANVILLE (CBS SF) - Police took a 32-year-old Oakland man into custody Wednesday in connection with a home burglary after he was spotted wandering around a condominium complex and reported by a resident.
The resident noticed the unknown man on a dirt pathway in the complex in the 1100 block of San Ramon Valley Boulevard. When approached, the man ran away, and the neighbor called police at about 1:15 p.m.
Police said that neighbors reported seeing a person matching the man's description run into Sunset Color Nursery, which is located in the 1400 block of the same Danville street about a mile down the road.
Nursery staff told police that the man had come inside and asked for a ride before he reportedly ran west into an open field.
A short time later, an officer located Jarrad Kalajian, 32, and detained him. Police said that a search of his backpack revealed a Sony PlayStation 3 and a laptop computer. Officers also located a Nikon camera on the ground near an abandoned bicycle.
Police determined that the computer had been stolen from a residence in the condominium complex, revealing that a burglary had taken place in which the other items were also stolen, police said.
Kalajian was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary, possession of stolen property and possession of burglary tools. He was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
