Daly City Man Convicted For 2nd Time Of Wife's Murder
DALY CITY (AP) - A Daly City man whose conviction for stabbing his wife was overturned because his attorney was ruled incompetent has been found guilty of murder at a retrial.
Thirty-six-year-old Quincy Norton was convicted Thursday of enhanced first-degree murder. He faces 26 years to life in prison when he's sentenced next month.
Prosecutors say the father of two was an abusive husband who stabbed his wife, 31-year-old Tamika Mack Norton, in 2006 because he was angry that they were divorcing.
The San Francisco Chronicle says Norton was convicted in 2008 but a judge set aside the ruling last year. Among other things, the judge said the lawyer failed to have a knife retested for DNA evidence that could have implicated someone else.
