Daily Madden: Young Quarterbacks Impress In Pre-Season Play
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Quarterback Andrew Luck led Indianapolis to a 38-3 preseason victory over St. Louis in his first NFL game, going 10-of-16 for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
"I was impressed with him since his Stanford days. He kind of really carried that over," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew.
Madden said he also was impressed with the 49er backup QBs in their preseason win Friday night.
"You can just see (Colin Kaepernick's) year of maturity... (Scott Tolzien) looked pretty good... Didn't one of his teammates call him a baby (Drew) Brees or something like that? That's not bad," said the former Coach.
In the PGA Championship, Tiger Woods again faded over the weekend rounds to finish 11 strokes behind winner Rory McIlroy. "I can see (Woods) coming back to winning here and winning there," Madden said. "I can't see him ever coming back to being the guy and the dominant golfer. I think those days are over for Tiger. But that doesn't mean that anything else is over for Tiger."
