Daily Madden: Young And Old Excel At The Masters
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - 14-year-old Guan Tianlang of China shot a 1-over 73 at the Masters Thursday, giving him a good shot to make the cut. "When you hear someone's in the eighth grade, don't you think back to when you were in the eighth grade and what you could do then?" John Madden asked the KCBS Radio morning crew.
"You know what would be the toughest thing for me if I had to do that in the eighth grade -- go back to Augusta, Georgia (and play in the Masters) -- would be packing, packing my clothes," said Madden"
"On one hand his mother has to pack for him -- pack his suitcase for him -- on the other hand he's one over after the first day of the Masters. Now how does that happen?"
Meanwhile, 55-year-old Fred Couples was just two strokes off the lead after the first round. "It's always good to see Freddie Couples," Madden said. "Doesn't he just look like a good guy -- the way he just acts, reacts and moves? I still think he has the purest, greatest golf swing I've ever seen."
