Daily Madden: Wild Card Weekend Picks
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - John Madden likes Pittsburgh over Denver, New Orleans over Detroit and New York over Atlanta in this weekend's NFL wild card games. Madden told the KCBS morning crew Friday that the Houston-Cincinnati game is a toss up. "To me that's not even a playoff game... Both at the end of the year, if you just watched them play the last games, they don't belong in the playoffs," said Madden.
Of the visiting teams, Madden said the Steelers should beat the Broncos, and that the Falcons have a good shot at beating New York. But his pick is the Giants. "Eli Manning looks like he's playing pretty well," said Madden. "I really like their defensive line. When the Giants defensive line plays, they really make it tough on the other team's offense."
Madden said the Lions should give the Saints a fight in New Orleans. "I don't know that either team has great defense, but both teams have pretty good offenses," Madden said. "I could see (the Lions) giving them a battle, but no, I can't see them winning. I think the Saints in New Orleans, the way they're playing now, I can't see anyone beating them there." (7:45)
