Daily Madden: Why So Quiet On The Golf Course?
Best of John Madden:
The U.S. Open starts Thursday at the Congressional course in Bethesda, Maryland. In earlier remarks to the KCBS morning crew, John Madden questioned why pro golfers are exempt from fan noise during the competition.
Morning anchor Stan Bunger asked John if he thought golf spectators should be able to cheer and boo.
"If they ever want to make it bigger time, I think they have to allow that," Madden said. "Watch the NCAA tournament. These kids are 19, 20, 21 years old and they're shooting the free throw and everyone is behind the basket waving stuff and making noise... What would happen if you did that with a tennis player or a golfer? They'd probably go home crying." (2:10)
