Daily Madden: Well-Deserved Cheers For The A's
OAKLAND (KCBS) - The Oakland A's got a standing ovation from fans at the Coliseum Thursday night after their loss to the Detroit Tigers in the division series ended their season.
"It was a great ride," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew."After the game was over, the players didn't want to leave and the fans didn't want to leave. In a losing effort, I thought that was a great scene."
The San Francisco 49ers are six point favorites to beat the New York Giants at Candlestick on Sunday. Madden said the 49ers need to be prepared for a tough battle.
"(The Giants are) still the defending world champions. They still got Eli Manning. They can still do some things to you. They still have a defensive line that really hasn't risen up this year, but at some point you know they're going to. You're not going to overlook the world champions. I know that, but I think that this is one that could surprise the 49ers a little if they're not completely ready for it." (6:55)
