Daily Madden: Watch Out For Andrew Luck
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The San Francisco 49ers play the Indianapolis Colts at Candlestick Sunday in a game featuring a former Stanford coach, Jim Harbaugh, and his star college quarterback, Andrew Luck. "Andrew Luck and that Colt offense, they can play," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
"I've seen where Andrew Luck and (Colts receiver) Reggie Wayne just play catch, and they're capable of doing that," said Madden.
The Colts also have a new running back, Trent Richardson, who was picked up in a trade this week with the Cleveland Browns. "I think in the long run he's going to be able to help them a lot, (but) I'm not sure how much he'll be able to help them this week," Madden said. "If you simplify and give him three or four plays, it won't be long before the 49ers defense knows those three or four plays. I think he's going to be a real addition to the Colt team, but I don't think he will be in this first game."
The Kansas City Chiefs led by former 49ers quarterback Alex Smith are 3-0 after beating the Eagles 26-16 in Philadelphia Thursday night. "(The Chiefs) have already won more games than they won all last year," Madden said.
"The way (Philadelphia) started in that first Monday night game against the Redskins, it looked like they just may take this new offense and walk it right through the league. And when you get that much time to work on them like the Chiefs had, I think they kind of showed that's not necessarily true."
