Daily Madden: Warriors Win Could Jeopardize Their Draft Position
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Golden State Warriors overcame a 21 point deficit to beat the Timberwolves 93-88 Sunday night.
The win could jeopardize a top draft choice for the Warriors, whose 23-41 record may not be quite bad enough to qualify with two games to play.
"That's one of the things in sports that really bothers me... that good news when a team wins becomes bad news," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "There's something wrong with that. When you're trying to lose to get in position to do something, that's very close, and I'm not saying it, but when you play to lose, that's very close to being fixed... and all the things that would kill the game."
Metta World Peace was ejected from the Lakers-Oklahoma City game for his vicious elbow to the head of the Thunders' James Harden while World Peace was celebrating a dunk. Madden said the hit was inexcusable.
"What type of mind gets aggressive when they do something well?" John said. "Usually people get a little upset when they drop a pass, they miss a tackle, they miss a basket to win a game... But what type of mind goes into an aggressive mode when they score?" (9:20)
