Daily Madden: Warriors' Teamwork Takes Them To Playoffs
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Warriors clinched a playoff spot with their win over the Minnesota Timberwolves Tuesday night, only their second postseason trip in 19 years. It's a first step to respectability, but John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew it's one that should be noted.
"You can't take the accomplishment away," Madden said. "One of your goals is to get to the playoffs. Once you get to the playoffs, immediately your next goal becomes to win in the playoffs."
Madden said the Warriors' improvement started with teamwork. "Playing as a team, that's the first thing," Madden said. "That's easier to say than to do... Maybe the Warriors didn't have the five guys or seven or 10 or whatever it takes to do it before and they do now. That's one place that I know over the years that they've improved, and that's playing as a team."
The NFL draft is just two weeks away. Madden said most teams have their plans in place. "You ever play poker with someone that when they get a pretty good hand and they're kind looking around, they take their cards and put them on their chest? That's what the league is doing right now. They're getting close, and they've all taken the cards and put them on their chest," Madden said.
"Most teams have their draft boards now and their players rated and their players targeted and all that stuff, so they don't want to be talking anymore."
