Daily Madden: Vick Can't Do It All
PHILADELPHIA (KCBS) - In their fourth straight loss, the Philadelphia Eagles fell to the New Orleans Saints 28-13 Monday night. Eagles quarterback Michael Vick continued to struggle, throwing an early interception that led to a 99 yard Saints touchdown.
"Sometimes he feels that he has to do more," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "And when you press to do more, then you will try to get the ball into tight places. I think that's one thing that they should do is take a little bit off Michael Vick and put it on the runners, because they have some good runners... If you just kind of get some things that the other part of the team can handle where Vick doesn't have to do it all, then I think maybe he wouldn't force some of those things."
Vick was also sacked seven times.
"Vick is a little tough to predict," Madden said. "As a pass protector, you have your back to the guy you're protecting. So you have to in essence protect a spot... When a quarterback moves around a little - and I'm not even talking scrambling, just moves around in the pocket - then that point that you're protecting is different. So you think a guy that can move is easier to protect, when in essence it's more difficult." (6:40)
