Daily Madden: Time For 49ers To Forget Last Sunday
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Coming off an embarrassing loss to the Seattle Seahawks Sunday night, the San Francisco 49ers face the Indianapolis Colts at Candlestick Sunday afternoon. "You don't have a lot of time to pout," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
"The life of a loss is two days. It's Monday and Tuesday. And then by Wednesday, that one has to be out of your mind," said Madden.
Can the Colts learn anything from the way the Seahawks handled the 49ers? "Maybe if they could bring the Seattle crowd down to Candlestick,"Madden said. "I've always been a guy that said a field has never won a game, a crowd has never won a game.
"But that thing in Seattle is the real deal, and you could see how that affected the 49ers. Now that's no excuse... You have to solve that problem."
After the Kansas City Chiefs' Thursday night victory over the Eagles in Philadelphia, Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith said winning a Thursday night road game is one of the toughest things to accomplish in the NFL. Madden agreed. "I know what players go through and how hard it is to play that game,
"With just a couple days between Sunday and Thursday, that's really not enough time to be honest with you... The visiting team has an even tougher thing because they even have a shorter week (since) Wednesday is a travel day."
