Daily Madden: The Warriors' Top Choice
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Golden State Warriors will have to determine how to mesh their backcourt players after selecting Washington State shooting guard Klay Thompson as their first choice in the NBA draft.
It's the same position played by Warriors star Monta Ellis. "I don't think you take your guy out of Washington State and then compare him to a Monta Ellis," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew Friday. "I think you kind of see what you got and where he fits in and then you go from there.
"Drafting someone from Washington State isn't going to make you make a permanent move or a big move I wouldn't think," said Madden.
KCBS morning sports anchor Steve Bitker said he has a lot of faith in the new Warriors ownership. "What's the owner going to do?" Madden asked. "Is he going to go to full-court press and get his arms up on defense? It's the people that you hire, they have to do something." (8:40)
