Daily Madden: The Tebow-Sanchez Playbook
NEW YORK (KCBS) - New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes says a two-quarterback system using both Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez won't work.
"He has to wait and see how it's going to play before he knows it's not going to work," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "You can take Tim Tebow and you can play him at a hybrid position. When I was watching him at Denver I thought this guy is just a winner... I think he is the guy to try it with - an offense of ten men plus a hybrid being Tebow, and do whatever you want to do with him."
Madden agrees platooning Sanchez and Tebow at the quarterback position isn't a good idea.
"If they're going to run Tebow in to play quarterback and run Sanchez out and run them back and forth, that has proven to really never work," the former coach said.
LeBron James scored 30 points to lead the U.S. Olympic basketball team to an exhibition win over Brazil Monday. Madden said he's looking forward to seeing the team play in London.
"To come together and represent your country in the Olympics, I think that's pretty cool," he said. "I saw LeBron James last night was talking about how everyone on that team is unselfish. Sometimes you hear that-- you know that everyone on a team in the NBA is unselfish - and you kind of laugh to yourself and you know better than that. But this one I kind of believe." (8:00)
