Daily Madden: The Raiders Take A Risk With New QB
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Matt Flynn is on his way from Seattle to Oakland as the Raiders' new quarterback, replacing Carson Palmer who appears headed to Arizona. A fifth year pro, Flynn has only started two NFL games. Last season he backed up Seahawks star Russell Wilson.
"I know it didn't take Wilson long to beat him out," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "I was shocked that (Seahawks coach) Pete Carroll made Russell Wilson the starting quarterback (so quickly)... He saw something very, very early either in Russell Wilson that he liked, which I would guess, or he saw something in (Flynn) that he didn't like."
Will Carson Palmer have a better chance at success with the Cardinals than with the Raiders?
"(The Cardinals) are in a tough division now," Madden said. "You put San Francisco and Seattle in there and even the Rams with Arizona, Arizona can be a little better (than the Raiders), but they still look like a fourth place division team to me." (7:30)
