Daily Madden: The Raiders' Most Embarrassing Moments
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The Oakland Raiders fell to 3-6 after losing to the Ravens in Baltimore 55-20 Sunday. "They were just outmanned and outmatched," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew.
Particularly troubling was a 105-yard kickoff return by a Ravens player who was never touched by a defender, said Madden. "As a coach and as a team, that's embarrassing... (and) a week ago having one guy run for over 250 yards (against the Raiders), that's downright embarrassing."
Should the Ravens have faked a field goal while leading the Raiders 41-17 late in the third quarter? "I never worried about that as a coach," Madden said. "You have to play the game, and whatever they do to you, you got to take it and got to stop it. It's not powder-puff. They're not trying to make everyone happy with milk and cookies."
Meanwhile, the 4-5 Saints upset the 8-1 Atlanta Falcons in New Orleans Sunday.
"(The Saints) do have talent," Madden said. "They have Drew Brees and they have the receivers. And their problem early has been defense. They have a new defensive coach... I think that they're going to be a little better on defense and their offense is always pretty good. So I think that they got off to a bad start, but I think they're a team to be reckoned with."
