Daily Madden: The NFL's Sideline Message To Coaches
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The NFL has fined Steelers coach Mike Tomlin $100,000 for stepping on the field during a kick return by Jacoby Jones of the Ravens Thursday.
"This is going to make an example and now everyone is going to get back and stay off the field," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
Jones had to swerve to avoid Tomlin and was tackled.
"The coaches have been on the field way too much. And they let it go, they didn't do anything about it, and it's hard to take back once you give it away."
The league said they'll also consider forfeiture of a Steelers' draft choice.
"I can't see that," Madden said. "I know that they talked about a fine, they talked about suspension, they talked about a draft choice and they also talked about fining the organization. I didn't think any of those other things would happen other than the (personal) fine. Now there's a possibility of (loss of) a draft choice, and my guess would be that it will go away and the $100,000 (fine) will be it." (7:20)
