Daily Madden: The Lowly Jets Hit Bottom
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The New York Jets were eliminated from the playoffs when they lost 14-10 to the Titans Monday night.
"It just looks like they don't have anything together," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "They were never a playoff quality team."
It's been a rough year for Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, who was intercepted four times and fumbled once Monday night. Did the Jets' acquisition of backup QB Tim Tebow affect Sanchez' play this season?
"He's spooked, whether it's because of Tebow or not," the former coach said. "If it is because of Tebow, he's way too fragile to play in this league anyway."
49er quarterback Colin Kaepernick is known for how hard he can throw the ball. But Madden said that's not among the top traits of elite NFL QBs.
"Of the top ten most important things, that would be like seven or eight," he said. "I would go with the guy that gets rid of the ball quickly, has a good feeling (for the defense), knows how to slide. I'd take Tom Brady, I'd take Peyton Manning.Drew Brees has been successful at that over the years. And none of them have real strong arms. Maybe Brady does, but you never see it." (8:50)
