Daily Madden: The Can't Miss Super Bowl Parade
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - John Madden told the KCBS morning crew he expected 100 percent attendance by players at the Super Bowl Parade in New York to celebrate Sunday's win by the Giants.
"This is going to be one of the greatest times in your life, and winning the Super Bowl is going to be something you think about and talk about and live and re-live for ever. You have to make as many memories as you can," said the former coach.
"The whole thing with winning is the camaraderie, and being with your teammates and talking about the games and the plays. And to leave your team to go someplace else on the day of the celebration wouldn't make any sense to anyone," he said.
The NFL combine starts later this month in Indianapolis. Madden said with the NFL Network coverage, you can pick up a lot of player information on television.
"The general managers and coaches and scouts still go," he said. "But there are some of them that will stay home and watch it on TV."
Former 49er coach and NFL analyst Steve Mariucci texted Madden to express his disappointment that Madonna didn't know who he was when he interviewed her at the Super Bowl.
"Mooch is mad," Madden said. "He was mad at her because she didn't know who he was because she's from Michigan and he's from Michigan. It was like, 'shoot, I mean, they may not know me everywhere, but in Michigan everyone knows me!'" (8:05)
