Daily Madden: 'That's Not NFL Football'
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Officially, it was a touchdown. An apparent botched call by NFL replacement refs gave the Seattle Seahawks a last second 14-12 victory over the Green Bay Packers Monday night.
"The caretakers of the game have to get something done. It can't continue to go on this way," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "You don't see the owners involved in this one. You don't hear from any of the owners. Doggone it, it's their game, too and maybe it's time for them to step up."
NFL and officials' union representatives met over the weekend, but there is no sign a settlement is near. "(This is) affecting the integrity of the game," Madden said. "That's not NFL football."

"You have no confidence in any of the officiating, so you have no confidence in any of the calls, so you have no confidence in the outcome of the game."
Madden said despite the bad call, Green Bay shares part of the blame for the loss. "I'm not making any excuse for anyone, because there is no excuse for the officiating," Madden said, "but maybe Green Bay should have had more separation. Green Bay is a better team than that, and they really didn't play well... They let themselves get in that position."
