Daily Madden: Surprises Galore In The NFL
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are winless no more as they held off the Miami Dolphins to win 22-19 at home Monday night. The Jacksonville Jaguars also won their first game of the season on Sunday.
"That's the great thing about the NFL," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "We think we know, but we don't know. And then we're surprised all the time. And what we think are going to be cinch things really aren't."

Among the weekend's other upsets was the 49ers loss at home to the Carolina Panthers. And the early playoffs favorite Green Bay Packers are now struggling without injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
"That's how important the quarterback is," Madden said. "You take Aaron Rodgers out of there, and it's a totally different thing... That's what's wrong when you start to say where things are going too soon. I've always felt that you wait until the last quarter of the season. I think that teams get in position between the beginning of the season and Thanksgiving to make a run. And then they make their run from Thanksgiving until the end of the season." (6:45)
