Daily Madden: Steelers And Patriots Look Ready To Go
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - In Thursday night NFL preseason play, the New England Patriots beat the Tampa Bay Bucs and the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Philadelphia Eagles. "I know this isn't true because you hate to even talk like this," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew, "but the Patriots and the Steelers look like they're ready to go right now."
Patriots quarterback and Bay Area native Tom Brady had another good night. "He reminds me and always has reminded me of Joe Montana," John said. "The way he plays the game, the way he's like Mr. Cool, always in control, always thinking ahead, always doing those things, it's a lot like Joe used to be."
In Philadelphia's loss to the Bucs, Eagles QB Michael Vick threw three interceptions, but had an impressive but risky open field tackle on Steeler All-Pro safety Troy Polamalu to stop the runback on one of them. "It's one of those instinctive things that if you really put a lot of thought into you wouldn't have done it," John said. "It was like Vick just said 'I'm embarrassed enough, I've had enough of this, I'm going to go end it.'" (8:45)
