Daily Madden: Stanford's Win Over USC Was No Fluke
STANFORD (KCBS) - Stanford moved into the top ten following the Cardinal's 21-14 victory over previously number two USC.
"They whipped 'em," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "Stanford is really good. They're tough and they're well coached, and they do all the right things."
In NFL play Sunday, John said the Philadelphia-Baltimore game stood out.
"The best football game was the Eagles and the Ravens, because those were two good teams playing in a tight game, the Eagles coming from behind. It looked and felt like a playoff game."
The Eagles are 2-0 despite nine turnovers in the two games. "
If you get yourself in a mess, and we do tend to get ourselves in messes sometimes, you have to work your way out of it... That's what the Eagles have been doing...not unlike Eli Manning and the Giants."
Manning threw three interceptions in the first half before leading a Giants comeback and a 41-34 win over Tampa Bay.
"There are some teams that get themselves in a pickle and then they stay in the pickle the whole game. In the Eagles case, they got themselves in pickles two weeks and they worked themselves out of the pickles. It's the same thing with Eli." (7:50)
