Daily Madden: Secondary Players Shine In Spurs' Big Win
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Danny Green hit seven three-pointers and scored 27 points and Gary Neal sank six threes and scored 24 as the San Antonio Spurs clobbered the Miami Heat 113-77 in Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
It's the first time in the finals for Green and Neal.
"That's what you live for," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "You live to come up big in big moments. You never know who it's going to be. And whether it's a World Series, or a Super Bowl, or NBA Finals or whatever, you never know. But that's what you prepare your whole life for. As a kid, you're in the back yard and you're saying 'three seconds to go, two seconds, one" and you take the shot... They've been hoping for that since they were little kids. Hoping for those moments."
The Spurs lead the series 2-1, hosting the Heat again Thursday night. The winner of Game 3 has won the title 12 of the last 13 times when the series was tied 1-1.
"I think you have to add in 'if everyone's healthy,'" John said.
It's unclear if Spurs star Tony Parker can play in Game 4 after leaving Tuesday's game in the fourth quarter with a tight hamstring.
"That's a big one," Madden said. "You can say he can go out there with a bad hamstring, but there are certain degrees of hamstrings that you just can't go out there (with.)"
Parker was scheduled for an MRI Wednesday.
