Daily Madden: Seattle Defense Shows Kaepernick Is Human
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Seattle Seahawks humbled the San Francisco 49ers in Seattle Sunday night, winning 29-3. "(Seattle is) a legitimate tough team, with a legitimate defense," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
"It's the first time since Colin Kaepernick has taken over as quarterback with the 49ers that he looked like a young quarterback. And I think the Seattle defense did that... I really think that the 49ers got 'out-physicalled,'" Madden said.
"I thought that the 49ers defense would do better than they did. I thought their offensive line would do better than they did. They lost that battle."
The Oakland Raiders are 1-1 after a 19-9 victory over the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars in Oakland Sunday. "They couldn't come out of that game with a loss and say 'we're getting better,'" Madden said. "I mean that was Jacksonville. And if the Raiders had not beaten Jacksonville they would have hit rock bottom... They played well (and) they look like they have a bunch of guys that really want to play and compete and hit and do all those things. And it's refreshing from last year."
In the battle of the Manning quarterbacks, Peyton went to 3-0 against his brother Eli in Denver's 41-23 victory over the New York Giants Sunday. "Peyton is a better quarterback than Eli, in all due respect to Eli," John said. "Denver has Peyton doing what Peyton does. Plus they're really playing good defense without their two best defensive players... You put those guys back in there -- they're going to be tough all year, all the way to the end."
