Daily Madden: Running Back Shortage Hurting Raiders
OAKLAND (KCBS) - The Raiders may have to go with a ground game by committee on the road against the New York Jets Sunday.
"Injuries are such a big part of the whole league right now and you just have to make adjustments," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. Raiders running back Rashad Jennings, recovering from a concussion, is questionable, and backups Darren McFadden and Jeremy Stewart are out with ankle injuries.
"You have to get someone to pick up the slack, the next man up and all that stuff. But it doesn't always work very well and it doesn't always make for good football."
The Raiders are 4-8. The Jets are 5-7.
"(The Raiders) are not running into a juggernaut here," John said. "The Jets are struggling themselves. And their problem isn't at running back as much as it is at quarterback, and they go back and forth. They're going back this week I think to Geno Smith, and he's having a heck of a time adjusting to pro football in his first year." (7:15)
