Daily Madden: Romo's Risky Play
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Quarterback Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys meet the 49ers at Candlestick this weekend. John Madden told the KCBS morning crew that Romo is a top ten QB, but not among the elite few.
"I think he's right below that line of the best quarterbacks," Madden said, noting his tendency to mix big mistakes in with otherwise superb play.
"Brett Favre had a little of that too," Madden said, pointing out "the fine line between being a goat and a hero."
New England quarterback Tom Brady drew criticism when he told fans to "start drinking early" to prepare for the Patriots' home opener Sunday.
"At the time you forget where you are and what you're doing and you say something and it's light hearted and you really don't mean anything by it," Madden said. "And then when it gets written down and it comes out you say 'I wish I had that one back.' And knowing Tom Brady he wanted that one back." (8:50)
