Daily Madden: RGIII Not Yet His Old Self
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Quarterback Robert Griffin III led the Washington Redskins back from a 14-0 deficit to defeat the Raiders 24-14 in Oakland Sunday, but John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew RG III is still not fully recovered from his knee injury and surgery last season.
"He's not back to where he was," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "I watched him pretty closely. It's his right knee and he still doesn't plant that right foot properly and make some of the moves he has to. And he can't run away from guys anymore... He always ran and ran well and ran with speed. The Raiders were catching him, and that didn't happen a year ago... It's a process for him to get better. I think he's going to get better as long as he doesn't get hurt in the process."
Madden likes the Saints over the Dolphins in Monday night's match-up of two undefeated teams.
"I think the Saints are the better team," John said. "The Saints quarterback is better and I see them scoring more points... You look at Miami and they're solid on offense, defense, special teams, every area. They're a good team, but I really don't think they're up to the Saints." (6:55)
