Daily Madden: Randy Moss Has A Lot To Prove
SANTA CLARA (KCBS) - 49er quarterbacks Alex Smith and Colin Kaepernick said they were impressed with wide receiver Randy Moss during his workout in Santa Clara Thursday.
"It's May. I don't know that you get too excited about anything in May," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "Randy Moss is a great player. He's one of the all time great wide receivers, and he needs his speed. And if he has his speed like old Randy Moss - I mean he can't have average speed and play - if he has his speed, he'll really help the 49ers. If he doesn't, then he won't help them."
Moss was signed by the 49ers after sitting out last year. He had only 28 catches in the 2010 season with the Patriots, Vikings and Titans.
He's 35 years old. Madden said while Moss may have looked good in yesterday's workout, he still has a lot to prove.
"I'm talking about having Randy Moss speed in October and November... not running around in your underwear in May." (9:10)
