Daily Madden: Raiders Still Looking For QB Of The Future
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Raiders are reportedly interested in Seahawks back-up quarterback Matt Flynn.
"That's not an answer," John Madden told the KCBS radio morning crew. "If they were to get him -- to get Flynn or not -- they would still have to look for a guy... The quarterback of their future is not there yet."
ESPN reports that current starter Carson Palmer is unlikely to restructure the contract that will pay him $13 million in 2013, which means the organization will have to decide if a 33-year-old quarterback who ranked 18th in Football Outsiders' QB efficiency metric last season is worth keeping around.
Meanwhile All Pro outside linebacker Elvis Dumervil has signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
"He's a real good player," Madden said. "Dumervil going to the Ravens was a big get for the Ravens and a bigger loss for the Broncos than I think they might imagine."
New York Giants defensive tackle Shaun Rogers told police jewelry valued at $440,000 was stolen from his Miami hotel room. Why was he traveling with that much bling?
"Because he's a defensive tackle," Madden said. "The rule of traveling with jewelry has always been if you weigh over 325 pounds, the sky is the limit... Who's going to take it away from him?" (7:30)
