Daily Madden: Raiders Hurting In Loss To Giants
NEW YORK (CBS SF) - Playing on a weak right knee, Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor struggled in Oakland's 24-20 loss to the New York Giants Sunday.
"When Terrelle Pryor started at quarterback, I said that the good thing about him is that they might not win a big part of their games, but they'll always have hope because he can run," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. Pryor revealed he's playing with a strained MCL. "When you get a guy like that hurt and he goes into the game with a bad knee, you could tell that he couldn't run, that he couldn't move... When you take away 50% of a quarterback's game, then he's not the same guy and it's going to be tough for them to win that way."
Playing without injured star quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers lost to the Eagles 27-13 Sunday. Madden said it's not easy to replace a player like Rodgers.
"The backup quarterback doesn't get any reps in practice," Madden said. Both Scott Tolzien and Seneca Wallace played at quarterback for the Packers Sunday. "If you're the second or third guy, you're not going to get reps in the game plan, and you're going to have to get your own mental reps, and you're going to have to be ready." (7:05)
