Daily Madden: Raiders Face Uphill Battle At Home
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Raiders host the Washington Redskins and quarterback Robert Griffin III Sunday. Oakland QB Terrelle Pryor suffered a concussion in the loss to the Broncos Monday night and may not play.
"This may be one they have to give to (backup Matt) Flynn and hope that he can do it," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "If Flynn plays, I know he's going to see a heavy dose of blitzing, and they better be able to handle that."
The Redskins have lost their first three games. But Madden says RG III, coming off last season's injury and surgery, is improving.
"He's getting better," John said. "His defense has really let him down, so everything is an uphill battle. When you take the threat of a run away from RG III and you make that offense one dimensional, it's very, very tough. That's what the Raiders have to do, one way or another... by just playing good defense against the run and the run of RG III (to) make him one dimensional. And of course, the way to do that is to get ahead."
Not an easy task with a backup quarterback. (6:40)
