Daily Madden: Raiders Face Tall Order In Denver
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The 1-1 Oakland Raiders face the 2-0 Broncos in Denver Monday night. The Raiders have improved on offense, but John Madden told the KCBS Radio crew that most likely won't be enough. "They still have to play against (Broncos quarterback) Peyton Manning," Madden said.
"When you play against (Manning), you know he's going to get his points," said Madden. "You have to score in the area of 28-30 points if you're going to beat him, (so) you have to get started early."
How do you defend Manning? "There's no way," Madden said. "You can drop them all or bring them all or whatever, and when he figures it out, he's going to carve you up... No matter what you do, he's going to get rid of the ball before you get there."
The Green Bay Packers lost 34-30 to the Bengals in a wild game in Cincinnati Sunday. "The Packers are a good team (and) Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback," Madden said. "But they just don't have the defense to go with it."
