Daily Madden: Raiders And 49ers Can Both Win Sunday
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The Jets and Bengals are both favored by a few points to beat the Raiders and 49ers this weekend. But John Madden told the KCBS morning crew both local teams have a good chance to win.
"If the Raiders can eliminate some of those penalties… if they play the way they did in the first half (in their loss to Buffalo last week), then I think they can beat the Jets," Madden said. "The Jets are not a good running team, so you're going to have to deal first with their defense and second with their passing game, and I think the Raiders ought to be able to do it."
John said the fact that the Coliseum is sold out for the game will help.
"(The players) just feel more excited because (the fans) are more excited, and it truly does go from the fans right into and through the players," said the former coach.
Despite the 49ers weak showing on offense last week, John said he likes their chances on the road against the Bengals.
"They ought to be better than Cincinatti… The 49ers had the Cowboys on the ropes and the Cowboys are a good team," said Madden. "If they play as well as they did last week against the Cowboys, I think they beat Cincinnati." (7:55)
