Daily Madden: Pujols Says Goodbye To St. Louis
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Three time National League MVP Albert Pujols is leaving the St. Louis Cardinals for the Los Angeles Angels.
"You talk about a team losing its identity," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "They win the World Series, and you'd like to celebrate the whole off-season with the people that did it. (Manager) Tony La Russa resigns right after that, and then the face of your team...Pujols - leaves. So you know a new guy (new manager Mike Matheny) comes in and says 'hey, what the heck did I just sign on here for?'"
Bad clock management may have cost the Dallas Cowboys a win Sunday when their rookie kicker was forced to try a 49 yard field goal and missed, sending the game into overtime.
"But here's the thing that I think has been lost in that whole deal," Madden said. "The defense lost the game (in overtime)... Their tackling was atrocious. Their defense was atrocious. And that went under the radar... The defense didn't play." (9:00)
