Daily Madden: Pryor Returns For A Tough Game
OAKLAND (KCBS) - Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor is the scheduled starter against the Chargers Sunday night after sitting out a game following a concussion. But he might be missing injured running back Darren McFadden.
"The one-two running punch was McFadden and Pryor," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "Now I think it's going to be a little tougher for Pryor to run also. When McFadden was there you'd have to worry about his running, so you'd have to be pretty stout inside. But you also have to watch the perimeters for Terrelle Pryor to run. That's what gives the Raiders hope offensively is Pryor being able to run and the threat of his running, (and) that you always have to defend that. And that tends to take a little aggressiveness out of your defense."
Madden said the Chargers look like the better team in this match-up, especially with the resurgence of San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers.
"He looks like the old Philip Rivers," Madden said. "The San Diego Charges are a better offensive team this year and Philip Rivers is playing better.... I think they're in a bounce-back year."
Madden said the games he's most excited about this weekend are the Bears-Saints, 49ers-Texans and Broncos-Cowboys.
"The Cowboys are always a good watch," John said. "Love 'em or hate 'em you like to watch them. And then when you add (Broncos quarterback) Peyton Manning to that equation, you know that's pretty good football." (7:00)
