Daily Madden: Pryor Offers More Hope For Raiders Fans
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Though overshadowed by another exceptional game from Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, Oakland Raiders QB Terrelle Pryor played well in a 37-21 Monday night loss. "He looks like he belongs there and the stage isn't too big," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
"Playing on the road against the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning is a tough thing. And getting behind the way they did -- now you're not only playing a good team at their place, but you have an uphill battle. And I thought he handled that very, very well," said Madden.
:The one thing that Terrelle Pryor gives the Raiders is some hope. Maybe beforehand you'd go into a game there was no hope at all," said Madden. "Now with Terrelle Pryor and the way that he plays and can play, I think other than Denver, they probably have a chance at just about any game they go into."
Pryor stayed in the game after being hit in the head in the fourth quarter. He was later diagnosed with a concussion. "That's a thing we have to work on because that only happens to quarterbacks," Madden said. "If a running back gets it, he always comes off. Or a defensive back or a linebacker, they're used to it. Quarterbacks usually don't come out.
"And it's funny if you look at all the concussions that have been missed, it's been quarterbacks. You don't take them out in the middle of drive. I kind of think somewhere we have to have a medical time out."
