Daily Madden: Poor Defense Puts Pressure On Raiders Offense
OAKLAND (KCBS) - The Oakland Raiders lost their fourth straight Sunday, falling 34-10 to the Bengals in Cincinnati. Oakland's defense has given up 169 points in those last four games.
"That makes the offense press, and you don't have your top runner so you don't have a real strong running game, so you become one dimensional," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "It's hard for anyone to win that way. Plus, they're not a real talented group."
Madden said the Raiders have a good chance to end their losing streak Sunday against Cleveland, a team John said is among the worst in the NFL.
The Cowboys lost a divisional match-up with the Washington Redskins and rookie quarterback RG III 38-31 Thanksgiving Day. With the Giants and star quarterback Eli Manning leading that division, are the Cowboys in danger of falling to near the bottom of the NFC East?
"You take RG III, a young guy that's just getting started and is going to be there a long time - that you have to play twice a year - and then you add Eli to that mix, and you better build a team," Madden said. "I don't know that (Cowboys quarterback) Tony Romo can't do the job, but he has to have a much better team built around him if they're going to do anything in that division." (8:40)
