Daily Madden: Patriots A Good Test For Luck And Colts
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Are the Indianapolis Colts a playoff team? John Madden told the KCBS morning crew Sunday's game against the Patriots will help answer that question.
"I really like Andrew Luck and I really like that Colts story and what they did. And I can see them being a playoff team. Going from a year ago having the worst record in football to kind of blowing up the whole team and front office, and bringing Andrew Luck in as the number one pick."
It's a home game for the Patriots, and they're heavily favored.
"I think this will be a pretty good test," Madden said. "How do the Colts stand up against a real playoff team? That will tell us how close or how far they are from being there."
The Pittsburgh Steelers will face the Baltimore Ravens without injured star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger Sunday.
"They're really going to miss him," Madden said. "It will force them into a different brand of football, which will obviously be more running."
The Ravens feature a hurry-up offense, which will be a challenge for the Steelers defense.
"It's hard to get ready for," Madden said. "It's hard to adjust to." (7:55)
