Daily Madden: Parker's Shot Ices Impressive Game 1 Win For Spurs
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - The San Antonio Spurs beat the Heat 92-88 in Game One of the NBA Finals in Miami Tuesday night after Tony Parker banked in a twisting desperation jumper as the shot clock expired.
"It just shows the fine line between winning and losing," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. Parker's shot put the Spurs up by four with five seconds to play. "That was a big win for the Spurs, when you can get win number one on the road," Madden said.
"I know everyone is going to say there's still a lot of basketball to be played, and there really is. But I'm kind of rooting for the Spurs."
Madden said he's not only a fan of the players, but the coach as well. "I kind of like (Gregg) Popovich," Madden said. "I'm kind of a coach's guy. The other guy (the Heat's Erik Spoelstra) is a good coach too, but I think he spends a little too much time looking in the mirror. Popovich is one of the guys that probably combs his hair once a day. I think the other guy a few more times."
