Daily Madden: No Easy Task For 49ers Or Seahawks
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- The 49ers could still win the NFC West if they beat the Cardinals and the Rams beat the Seahawks in Seattle Sunday. "(A Rams win in Seattle) is a long shot," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew.
"But Arizona beat Seattle in Seattle, and the Rams can play a little like Arizona did. I think the secret is to go up there, not let that crowd bother you, not get back on your heels. Just be real physical with them, and be more physical than they are. It's not that simple, I know that. But the Rams are capable of playing that type of game too."
The 49ers have clinched a playoff spot regardless of whether they win or lose to the 10-5 Cardinals. "That's going to be a tough game," John said. "When you're going into the playoffs the last week, one of the last teams you'd want to play in the NFL is Arizona." Arizona needs a win and a Saints loss to the Buccaneers to get in the playoffs.
Madden likes Green Bay's chances to advance to the playoffs with the return of Aaron Rodgers from injury. "I know he's been out seven or eight weeks," John said. "But I don't think it's going to affect him because the last two or three weeks he's been getting ready to play and been pretty close to playing." The Packers play the Bears, who also go to the playoffs with a win or go home with a loss. (6:30)
