Daily Madden: NFL Opening Weekend; Stadium Fantasy Info
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - John Madden welcomed the start of the NFL regular season during his chat with the KCBS morning crew, remarking how much the opening games have been improved along the lines of baseball's Opening Day festivities.
"Now the opening of the season is a whole weekend ... " said Madden. "It's kind of gotten to the point where it really should be."
Madden also talked about the NFL directive ordering all teams to show real-time statistics - including of out-of-town games - on their scoreboards throughout the season, in a nod to the ever-increasing popularity of fantasy football.
"If we don't provide close to the same types of things as a viewer that you can get at home in the stadium, then we are going to lose crowds," said Madden.
