Daily Madden: NFL Needs Better Enforcement Of Sideline Rules
(KCBS) - What will the NFL do about Steelers coach Mike Tomlin's near interference with a Raven's kick return Thursday?
"Some people talk about suspension," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "I can't see that happening. Some people talk about taking a draft choice away. I don't see that happening... I don't think it will be any worse than (a fine.)"
Whether he knew it or not, Tomlin was just over the sideline on the field when kick returner Jacoby Jones had to move to avoid him and was tackled. The Ravens won the game 22-20. Madden expects refs to better enforce sideline rules.
"They've been letting coaches get away with coming on the field too much. That had always been for years a no-no. You can say just about anything you want to, but you have to stay off the field, stay on your sideline. And now coaches are coming onto the field more," said Madden. "Once you allow it and don't call it, then it's tough to get back."
