Daily Madden: Natural Confidence
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Was there any doubt as the games neared their end Wednesday night that Tim Lincecum and the San Francisco Giants and Devin Setoguchi and the San Jose Sharks knew they would be victorious?
"The true confidence, you can't fake it. It has to be real and come from within," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew. "If you think that's the way to win, 'we're going to do that,' then you really don't have the concentration that you need... I don't think that's the way that you want to approach it, where you start talking about your celebration before you do it... When you're trying to manufacture it and talk a game of confidence is when it doesn't work."
The Los Angeles Dodgers owner continues to tangle with Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Seelig, following Selig's announcement that the league was taking over control of the team. John said he doesn't know what will happen next, but "this is something that all owners of all sports are watching. I think we've all always thought that once you own a team, that's your team, and they can't take it away from you. Here they're taking it away from them." (7:55)
