Daily Madden: More Evidence It's a Quarterback League
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Down by a touchdown at half time, quarterback Aaron Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a 44-31 win over the Vikings Sunday night.
"Minnesota got ahead, (but) that was just holding the inevitable back for awhile," John Madden told the KCBS Radio morning crew. "The Packers scored on every possession. That's all just Aaron Rodgers. We always say it's a quarterback league and all that. And if you have one, it just proves that you don't have to have a lot of other parts, that you can beat anyone. And if you don't have one, man it's really an uphill battle."
Also trailing early were the Denver Broncos and quarterback Peyton Manning. Then they scored 31 fourth quarter points to be beat the Redskins 45-21 Sunday.
"Peyton Manning really looked like he was hurting," John said. "Then the minute you say that he completes a couple (and) throws a couple touchdown passes. And you say, well, he just got better in front of us."
But quarterbacks can't do it all by themselves. Calvin Johnson racked up 329 receiving yards in the Detroit Lions' come-from-behind 31-29 victory over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday.
"He's the best," Madden said. "He's big and he's strong and he's fast. And he has great hands." (6:45)
