Daily Madden: Mile-High Excitement For Tebow
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - Former Heisman Trophy winner and 2010 first-round draft pick Tim Tebow is replacing Kyle Orton as the starting quarterback for the 1-4 Denver Broncos, much to the delight of the legions of Broncos fans who have been clamoring for 'Tebow Time' since he was drafted.
"When you draft a quarterback relatively high, you intend for him to be the starter, and it's just when," John Madden told the KCBS morning crew.
But Madden says Denver's problems extend beyond the quarterback play. "That's not the only reason you're bad," Madden said. The Broncos are 25th in the league in both offense and defense.
"You're bad because you don't tackle well, you don't play defense, you don't cover, you don't pass protect, you don't run the ball right, and I think that's where Denver is... Should it be Kyle Orton, should it be Tim Tebow? But in addition to that, they have a lot of other things that they better fix." (8:50)
