Daily Madden: Maybe Only Weather Can Beat The Packers
OAKLAND (KCBS) - The Raiders have a tough test Sunday, facing the undefeated Packers in Green Bay. John Madden told the KCBS morning crew that the fair weather forecast is bad news for the Raiders.
"If they (the Packers) are going to get knocked off, I think it's going to be one of those things where they have some weather and it really limits what they do," John said. "It's all about Aaron Rodgers and their receivers - maybe the best in football - and, you know, spreading them out in shotgun, and getting rid of the ball quickly, and throwing screens and stuff. That's their whole game."
"Now if they ever got in one of those things where the weather limited those tools, then that's where they'd have a pretty good chance of maybe getting upset."
Even though he's a Raiders fan, John said he's routing for the Packers to end the season without a loss.
"I would like to see them, you know, not give up on that, being undefeated," John said. "Not get that 'well the important thing is the playoffs and being healthy for the playoffs, and the Super Bowl, and the Lombardi trophy.' I know all that stuff... But why don't you go for them both."
John said the 5-7 Cardinals have a better chance to beat the 10-2 49ers in Arizona Sunday than the Raiders have to beat the Packers.
"Arizona is not terrible," John said. "They're just coming off a win... If you're not ready, you could walk into one down there, although I don't think that's going to happen." (8:20)
