Daily Madden: Manning's Supporting Cast Better Than Brady's
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - John Madden likes the Denver Broncos over the New England Patriots in Sunday night's showdown.
"I did a lot of these games, and it was always great when you had Tom Brady against Peyton Manning, two of the best, not only in the game, but two of the best who have ever played," Madden said. "They were really fun to watch, and it was back and forth, and kind of whoever had the ball last would win it. In those days, it seemed like the teams were even... I'm thinking now that this year Denver is a better team than the Patriots... How much, I'm not sure. When both teams were relatively even then the big thing was the quarterbacks. But now as you watch them, New England is not a great team. I think Denver is a much better team than the Patriots, so I think you put that first before you go to the quarterbacks."
Elsewhere, Cal is a 32-point underdog in Saturday's Big Game at Stanford Saturday.
"No matter what happens, you have to be able to lose by less than 32, don't you?" John said. "If I was a coach or a player or a fan or an assistant or whatever of a team that was a 32-point underdog, I'd be mad... 32 points goes beyond a betting line. It goes to complete embarrassment." (7:00)
